Mission
Thinking about the future of interface design for Sooon, an immersive experience between print and web.

The project Sooon came from a reflexion about the future of interface design. It’s nothing to say that our industry is evolving very quickly. Our daily jobs have drastically changed in the past ten years, and we’re not able to know what will it be in another decade. But it’s sometimes refreshing to step back, look at the big picture and think about how do we shape the path of our own future.

Sooon is a 68 pages booklet bringing together 23 contributors to think about the present, the near and distant future of the web design industry. And more than a simple book, it's an immersive experience between print and web. It uses WebGL and voice command to access the articles but also additional rich content into a dedicated website.

Thinking about
UI animation

My role was to write an essay about the state of user interface animation and how it affects user experience. I’ve tried to cover differents aspects of the topic starting from the aim of UI animation, the performance issue, the specific case of Google authentic motion and I’ve finally presented few tools at our disposal to animate our interfaces like few frameworks, GUI tools, micro-interaction tools etc.

A project between print & web

All the readers firstly discover the Sooon project through a paper booklet. Then, if they open a browser and go to the Sooon.me website, they could go deep into an immersive experience and access much more content thanks to vocal command.

So, how it works?

They just have to spell some of the specific enlighted words they could read in each article and... voilà! Now they access rich content like videos, images etc.

collaborative project

This project was created, designed and led by my friend Tony Legrand but it was foremost a collective effort. Authors, contributors, illustrator and developers have worked together to make Sooon possible.

Few weeks after the release, the project has won the gold medal of the «Grand Prix of Brand Content» in the Brand Book category.
